My sister was born 27 years ago today on Yokota Air Force Base in Japan, just outside Tokyo. I was 6 1/2 years old and in first grade, and sitting in the middle of a school assembly when my dad, the assistant principal at my school, came rushing down the aisle to tell me my mom was about to have the baby. A couple hours later, Allison was born and even thought my parents didn't let me pick out her name like I was hoping they would, I was so, so excited to have a sister. It was the one thing I'd wanted most in the world. Twenty-seven years later, it's still pretty good. Happy birthday, sis!
